I LOVE my work place

Not because I have great colleagues (although most of them are) or that I have the best sitting place ( I wouldn't call one with windows behind me a good place) or that parking is 'free' (I will touch on that later) but being the monster that I am, it's because of the GLORIOUS FOOD that I can get within walking distance at really really reasonable, or should I say more than reasonable prices! I have yet to try out all the various restaurants opposite the highway, not to mention all the stall in one restaurant. This, compared to my previous work place makes me real glad that I'm here and not stuck with the counter offer of higher salary and promotion but with NO FOOD! I can recall the days when my ex-colleagues and I catered food which costs no less than RM6 per meal.

Shall I also mention that the shopping amenities here are sufficient for retail therapies? There's Parkson, Watson's, Guardian, that cheapo supermarket where you can get basic stuff for less, Jusco's sister company, many many organic stalls and...here's the deal - a market. You need to go shopping to release work stress? Yes, just go buy a fish! It's not like buying some pieces of clothing that you don't need just to release stress and then regret later. You need fish anytime right? Of course there are other options - like meat, vegetables or fruits.

Parking - yes, it's always been free. Until DBKL installed the parking machines that is. Everyone used to park haphazardly then and no one bothered to pay for the covered car park although it was only RM30 per month. Yes, where else in KL can you rent a covered car park at this rate? I have queued for this but I'll have to wait till forty over of employees who rents the car park space leaves the company before I can park there. It should be a pretty long time looking at the rest of my colleagues who've been here for six years and above. Or the older generation who should retire soon. Waitaminute, the HR VP is over 55 and he's still here! I think he's 60! Arrgh!

Can you believe it, the DBKL machine started working on my first day of work? Oh, by the way, the first time DBKL came, I almost got the ticket, missed by just one car. The second time, I drove right into the covered car park without paying and today's the third time but I couldn't move my car coz it's been blocked left right centre by other staff's car at the back lane. But I would still call myself lucky that I've not had to pay for any fines yet. So, free parking it is!

The various kinds of people

There are just so many different kinds of people in this company I work for now:
1. The ones who downs thirty, I repeat, THIRTY spirulina pills daily and sometimes treat it as a replacement meal. I get greenish poo by eating five per day. No wonder I see some green tint on their faces. I won't even know when they're green with envy!
2. The ones who were trained to eat and live healthily - They eat two slices of fruit on the way to lunch and another apple and orange for tea and heaven knows how much more for dinner. And I thought I was one of those healthier people who had to eat at least a slice of fruit a day.
3. The ones who refuses to wear their uniforms - They're provided with five shirts, three bottoms and two blazers and yet they have all sorts of excuses not to wear the uniforms. I wish the company would give me mine already. I get big headaches every working morning trying to figure out what to wear.
4. The ones who won't speak any other languages other than Mandarin - They live by it, what can I say. Even the other races here are speaking in Mandarin! Shucks! Maybe if I stuck to the company for say three years, my Mandarin speaking capability will improve tremendously (Yeah....more than 15 years in KL and look at my Cantonese speaking ability)
5. The ones who work OT like they live for the company - Totally defeats my life philosophy of coming to work on time and going home on time while managing tight deadlines. While doing the recent budget, another colleague told me to allocate at least 3 days of OT for staff. Three days?!! That's like more than half the working days which means more than half of someone's life spent working! I'm still trying to figure out how not to look so obvious that I leave on time....
